K&A Scholarship for 2026/2027 Academic Year

K&A Scholarship for 2026/2027 Academic Year

 

We are pleased to announce that our annual call for applications for the K&A Scholarship for the academic year 2026/2027 commences on September 1, 2026.

 

The K&A Scholarship was founded in 2021 by K&A Legal, one of the leading law firms in the Kyrgyz Republic. The firm supports companies and international organizations operating across various sectors of the Kyrgyz economy, including banking, finance, mining, IT and telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, tobacco, and other industries. 

 

Scholarship amount and pay period: The K&A Scholarship of KGS 90,000 shall be paid in monthly allotments of KGS 10,000 during 9 academic months from September 2026 through May 2027 without further renewal.

 

Selection criteria: The K&A Scholarship applicants must be citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who are in their second to fifth year of full-time study in law departments of higher education institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic and meet the following selection criteria:

 

    • high academic performance (especially in legal subjects), cumulative average grade (GPA) should not be less than 3.0 or its equivalent in other performance indicator type (in case of the five-point grading scale, the final grades in legal subjects should not be less than 4) as per the standards of each university; 

    • active involvement in academic/student conferences, moot courts, public life of the law department and/or university (volunteering experience will be an advantage), publications, working in legal clinics, and/or taking internships in the field of law;

    • intermediate English proficiency level;

    • willingness to undertake an internship at K&A.

 

* Applications from students from regions and/or families who may need additional financial support are encouraged.

 

Selection stages: The selection process consists of the following stages:

 

    • Acceptance and review of applications and necessary documents from applicants; 

    • English language test and interview with shortlisted applicants.

 

To apply for the K&A Scholarship, please send the following documents in English or Russian in a single 10MB PDF file to scholarshipka.legal@gmail.com  indicating “K&A Scholarship” in the subject line before September 30, 2026:

 

    1 Motivation letter of any format;

    2 CV;

    3 A short article (up to 1,500 words) in the Russian, English or Kyrgyz language on one of the following topics based on the current legislation: 

- Ownership rights of foreign citizens to land plots in the Kyrgyz Republic: restrictions, practical challenges, and possible solutions; 

- Legal regulation of virtual assets in the Kyrgyz Republic: key requirements, legal gaps and mechanisms for addressing such gaps; 

- The role of artificial intelligence in the legal profession: opportunities, risks and recommendations for mitigating or eliminating such risks.

    4 Copy of an official academic record (transcript/student’s record book);

    5 One recommendation letter from a professor.

 

Important dates:

 

    • September 1 - September 30, 2026 - accepting scholarship applications;

    • September 30 – October 14, 2026 - screening applications, testing English proficiency, shortlisting candidates, interviewing short-listed candidates;

    • October 15, 2026 – announcing scholarship competition results on www.k-a.kg and/or social media accounts of K&A.

 

*The scholarship payment for September will be combined with the payment for October.
