On October 24-25, 2012 K&A law firm contributed to the IBA Conference on Merges & Acquisitions in Russia and CIS, which was held in Moscow.
Maksim Smirnov, Partner, has participated as a speaker in a session on peculiarities of tax due diligence in M&A transactions in Russia and CIS and shared local experience in tax audit.

On October 17, 2012, lawyers Magomed Saaduev and Ruslan Sulaimanov took part in the conference on Corporate Governance in Russia: Search of Efficient Models and Best Russian Practice which was organized by the Russian Business Forum. The conference was attended by the representatives of the leading law firms and major Russian companies engaged in corporate governance. The experience gained from participation in this event will be used by the firm to deal with the corporate issues and to develop seminars for Kyrgyz companies on improvement of corporate governance.

On September 28, 2012, Maksim Smirnov and Aleksey Vandaev took part in the conference on protection of intellectual property in Russia organized by the Russian Business Forum. The conference was devoted to the latest trends in protecting intellectual property rights, licensing policy, patent analytics, enforcement challenges, overview of litigation and arbitration practice, right holder’s experience (Kaspersky Laboratory, GALA RECORDS, BYERSDORF, ORCLA BRANDS RUSSIA and other companies).

Кalikova & Аssociates senior lawyer, Magomed Saaduev, took part in the Third International Forum: Energy for Sustainable Development conducted from 12 to 14 September at the Issyk-Kul Lake. This forum was organized by the Kyrgyz Government and a number of international organizations.
The Forum focused on the following topics:
- Sustainable energy in Central Asia and neighboring regions;
- The role of the private sector in promoting cleaner energy options in Central Asia and neighboring regions;
- Investments in energy efficiency and cleaner energy: ways to finance energy efficiency and cleaner energy projects.

On September 3, senior partner Ulan Tilenbaev took part in the Kyrgyz German Investment Forum hosted by the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic. The forum participants discussed options for business cooperation between the Kyrgyz and German businessmen, as well as further trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

From 19 to 29 August 2012, senior partner Gulnara Kalikova visited the USA as a member of the female entrepreneurs’ delegation to take part in the International Leadership Program for Female Entrepreneurs organized by the US Department of State. The purpose of the program was to communicate the US experience in supporting and promoting small and medium enterprise and women’s entrepreneurship.
